Celica (Ledesma) Douglas (b.1996) is a Visual Artist born and raised in Houston, TX but is currently based in Austin, TX. Ledesma holds a BFA in Studio Art from Texas State University specializing in Oil Painting. Ledesma’s work ranges from Oil Painting, Drawing, Performance art, and Expanded Media. With Painting being her main choice of media, Ledesma explores what happens when you persevere and choose an intentional path into the unknown while rendering photorealistic figures within a creative space.

Like a moth to moonlight, her art invites the viewer into a journey of interdimensional escapism. In the midst of change as Ledesma shares her personal experiences, tower events, and obstacles there is a sense of relief when allowing what cannot be controlled to simply unfold. Ledesma’s relationship with reality is informed by spirituality and the examination of navigating space as a visibly Black, intersectional woman, who was raised between the culture and influences of her Mexican American mother and African American father.

In 2020 Ledesma had a Duo show and Thesis show at TXST Galleries.  In 2022 Ledesma was allowed to have her very own Solo Show “Through Double Consciousness” at ArtUs Co Gallery in Austin, TX as well as another Solo Show in 2023, “Attuned Surrender” at OFC Creatives Gallery. Ledesma has also been published in The University Star, BON Magazine,  Austin Voyage, GUD Magazine, and Glasstire.
